New Music: Weekly Releases for February 25, 2024
NEW MUSIC ALERT
Hello, music lovers! Thanks for dialing in to this week’s newest drops. If I'm being honest, I've been on a nostalgic kick lately. I'm not sure about y’all, but the energies have been pulling me back to the 90s and early 2000s. From the movies to the music, I've had the best time taking a stroll down memory lane.
On that detour, one of those bands released a track from the vault. That band is Linkin Park! While it’s been almost 8 years since their lead vocalist, Chester Bennington, transitioned, the spirit of the dearly missed rock star lives on through his music.
The band is currently gearing up for the release of their 2024 revival LP, "Papercuts," set to drop on April 12th. However, this album will feature a handful of unheard songs. “Friendly Fire” is the first pre-release of the project, but I'm sure we will see more singles drop as we get closer to the date.
Staying on all things blast in the past: ironically, another beloved figure from my childhood reemerges on this week’s music alert.
The soul of Cuban singer and Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz, is resurrected with the posthumous release of “Celia.”
Please pass the tissues this way when you get a chance. Oh, I just know the Latin community would do anything to hear Celia Cruz utter her iconic slogan, “¡AZÚCAR!” one more time. (Que en Paz este en el cielo.)
The Latin music genre is getting all the love this time around, especially the folks at 5020 Records who were busy this week rolling out quite a few heavy hits!
With two releases from Sony Music’s Miami Label, both of these bops are independently worth the listen.
Give Kany García & Young Miko’s collab “En Esta Boca” a play, and listen to the complete project from Residente. Check out one of my favorite tracks on his LP, which so happens to feature Christian Nodal.
